With no specific meaning, the word Evel is a derivative of its anagram: Leve (light).
The brand name was chosen with the intention of describing its tasting characteristics, which are maintained until this day: an elegant, smooth and enjoyable wine. Evel was a constantly a preferential choice for the offcial menus of the Portuguese Republic, and therefore becaming highly popular in the beginning of the 1950’s, as result of the appointment to “Offical supplier of the Portuguese Presidency”, a title which the company proudly carried on the lable.
