Quinta de Cidrô Boal do Douro

Quinta de Cidrô Boal is an excellent example of the innovative dynamics at this estate although it was recently discovered that the Boal variety, indigenous in the region and for centuries present within the Douro vines, is also recognized as Semillon, therefore considering this french variety as authorized by the regulatory body (IVDP) as a Douro and Port DOC variety.

BLEND

100% Boal. Grapes are harvested when in perfect ripening conditions for freshness and aroma. As this is not a variety of exuberance, we begin fermentation in stainless steel vats, and finish part of the blend to french oak barriques, which then remains for a 6 month ageing process. Ageing this wine in oak allows more aromatic complexity and density on the palate.

TASTING NOTES

Beautifully citric coloured wine with floral and spiced notes, which develop into suggestions of peach and plum. On the palate, it is rich and fruitful, with refreshing flavours of lemonade and white fruit that offers complexity and a vibrant character. Its excelent acidity marks a long and persistent finish.
