The Marquis is an exceptional blend selected exclusively as a tribute to the Marquis of Soveral, born in São João da Pesqueira and previous owner of Quinta de Cidrô, at the time property of the Soveral Family.
To produce this wine, we believed it was essential to maintain the Quinta’s style by including one or more foreign grapes. At the same time, the presence of a national grape was crucial for our strong emphasis on preserving the Douro’s unique character. Through modern methods of viticuture, we were able to identify, amongst the selected parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional, vines of supreme quality, making this an incomparable wine, which ages 14 months in French oak barriques.
A “Super Douro” that results from a harmonious but powerful blend of Touriga Nacinal (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%). A very intensly aromatic wine, with pepperish notes and mint, blackberries and vanilla aromas, revealing immense complexity and youth. A very elegant yet powerful structures wine, with strong flavours, rich tannins and excelent acidity which guarantee it enormous potential to age in bottle for many years.
