The Evel Tinto (Red) is one of the most charismatic e innovative wines in the history of the Douro. Launched in 1913, its purpose served to present a new style of Douro red, one which praised lightness and a fruit forward character, on the contrary to the strcutured and concencentrated styles of the time.Today the Evel Tinto is produced from vines planted at Quinta do Casal da Granja, Quinta de Cidrô and Quinta dos Aciprestes located in the plateau of Alijó, São João da Pesqueira and Nagoselo, respectively. The first two locations benefit from a cool climate that permits the slow maturation of grapes and the production of elegant and aromatic wines with smooth tanins. While Quinta dos Aciprestes benefits from from a warm climate where wines are structured and powerful.
