Series Gouveio

Gouveio is one of the best known grapes in the Douro, although very rarely seen as a single varietal wine. This noble variety excels for its excellent texture on the palate, rich minerality and mouth-watering acidity.

Winemaking

100% of this wine is made with Gouveio, a grape known for its tanic texture, minerality and high acidity. In the search for a fine and elegant Gouveio, we decided to engage in a series of harvest rehersals, throughout the years, in which we would pick grapes earlier than usual as a way to discover the aromatic side to this variety. We discovered there is a very small window of 2 to3 days between the Gouveio being too green and too ripe for this wine. 50% of the wine is aged in new french oak barrels to smoothen the green tanins which are so characteristic of this grape.

TASTING NOTES

The Series Gouveio  shows the character of a great Douro. An aromatically complex white with delicate floral and white fruit notes combined with hints of vanilla and mineral nuances. On the palate, it reveals structure and generous, with a good mineral texture, finishing off with great acidity.
