DOURO wines - Quinta do Síbio

Located in the Roncão valley, a famous site for the quality of its wines, Quinta do Síbio presents itself as one of Real Companhia Velha’s oldest estates. Today the property, extends onto the plateau of Alijó with a total area of 101,5 ha enjoying South and West sun exposure, in between 90 and 550 metres of altitude.
The layout of the vines follow the level curves and are installed in traditional socalcos made os shist stones, highlighting the heritage of this property.

Following a total restructuring of its vines, this charming quinta is one of the most innovative projects in the region, where we implement a vast program to recue some of Douro's oldest varieties, which were in risk of extintion.

The quinta’s heritage comprises of 11 ha of traditional Douro red grapes, of which Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Francisca and Donzelinho Tinto, are planted on terraces, while 90,5 ha extend over the Alijó. On this diverse terroir, we have initiated an innovative and experimental project where the focus lies on recovering, studying and vinifying many of the Douro’s white varieties such as Samarrinho, Donzelinho Branco, Touriga Branca, Gouveio, Síria and Esgana Cão, amongst others.
