The Quinta de Cidrô Gewurztraminer is an extremely original wine that differentiates completly from any style of white wine in Portugal. It is an excellent demonstration of how the Douro’s character can influence even the most striking grape varieties, in which this Gewurztraminer is completely transformed by our region.
We seek to make a wine where the variety’s individualities, in terms of aromas and flavours, are evidently present, yet, maintaining the features of the Douro’s whites: their structure, minerality and acidity. To ensure these characteristics, we ferment this wine in stainless steel tanks, following an ageing period of 6 months in the same vessels.
This bright yellow coloured Gewurztraminer is an incredibly aromatic wine with a bouquet of lychee and roses, typical of the variety. On the palate, it follows the same pattern, yet it is complemented by a flavourful minerality and lively acidity, which together with its dry character differentiate this wine from the famous wines of Alsace.
