Founded in 1930, D. José is one of the most emblematic Port Wine brands worldwide. With over 80 years of existence, the brand serves as a tribute to D. José I, King of Portugal who founded Real Companhia Velha, under de hospicies of the Marquis of Pombal. Ports under this notable brand reflect the quality required by the Portuguese people.
The Ports selected for the D. José Tawny are fermented in stainless steel in contact with skins until its interruption through the addition of brandy. The ageing process is then carried out in old oak vats for an average period of 4 years.
A young Tawny Port, of deep colour and auburn shades, that reveals notes of ripe red fruit and hints of spice, harmoniously combined with touches of oak from its ageing. A Port of refined flavours, balanced sweetness and a long lasting acidity.
